Accuracy

Definition: Accuracy is a disc golf player’s ability to throw a disc toward the intended target, landing area, line, height, and angle. An accurate throw does not always finish closest to the basket; it accomplishes the player’s specific objective, such as hitting a gap, avoiding a hazard, reaching a preferred landing zone, or leaving an easy next shot. Accuracy combines sound technique with careful aim, controlled power, and effective shot selection.

Why It Matters: Accuracy lowers scores by keeping throws in bounds, avoiding obstacles and hazards, creating easier approach shots and putts, and reducing the need for recovery shots. Distance without accuracy can carry a disc farther into trouble, while an accurate shorter throw may provide the better scoring opportunity. Consistent accuracy also builds confidence because the player can select a line and trust the disc to follow it.
